Multan Institute of Nuclear Medicine and Radiotherapy (MINAR Cancer Hospital) was established in 1968 by Pakistan Atomic Energy Commission in Multan for diagnosis & treatment of cancer patients for the population of South Punjab. Since that time this hospital has gradually progressed with installation of latest equipment and specialist doctors in the field of Nuclear Medicine, Radiation Oncology, Medical Oncology and Medical Physics.

Upgradation of this institution has been done three times and now MINAR is Top standard Cancer hospital with latest diagnostic and therapeutic equipment like two Dual head SPECT gamma cameras, SPECT-CT system, latest 128-Slice CT-Scan machine, 1.5 Tesla MRI machine, three ultrasound machines including one latest ultrasound machine with shear wave elastography, Cobalt-60, Conventional and CT-Simulator, Brachytherapy machine and state of the art dual energy Linear accelerator (LINAC).

MINAR is the 1st hospital to start radiotherapy with LINAC in South Punjab. In addition, there is well established Clinical laboratory, RIA/IRMA/Elisa & Chemiluminescent assay labs, PCR lab & FNAC lab where a wide range of test with high sensitivity & specificity are being performed under the supervision of specialist doctors. Cardiac Scan is also being performed under supervision of FCPS cardiologist. DXA scan on latest machine with rotating C-Arm is only available in MINAR.

Breast clinic is being run daily by two radiologist lady doctors who perform breast ultrasonography, digital mammography, FNAC and true cut biopsy. X-Ray is also reported by qualified radiologists. Male and female indoor wards and isolation rooms for patients treated with radioactive iodine ablation are also part of hospital. All these facilities available under one roof are available from 08:00 AM to 07:45 PM daily while radiotherapy on Cobalt machine is performed up to 12:00 midnight to cater huge workload of patients of South Punjab & Baluchistan. MINAR is the only hospital among all Atomic Energy Cancer Hospitals recognized by PMDC for house job in Nuclear Medicine. The institute is also recognized by CPSP for FCPS-II training in Nuclear Medicine and Radiation Oncology. ISO-9001-2015 has been awarded while ISO-9001-2000 was achieved in 2006.
